EMERGING ISSUES ON WOMEN ENROLMENT IN ODL: A CONCEPTUAL CRITIQUE

Studies in gender enrolment have been growing all over the world. The trend has shown that the female gender prefers soft core courses over hard core Science oriented courses. All these studies have been carried out using the conventional mode of learning as case studies. This paper takes a cursory look at the under representation of women issues and stereotype and other factors that has resulted in low representation of women as raised in such studies and make a checklist as to ascertain if the same culture has been reproduced in the Open and Distance (ODL) mode bearing in mind the mode of delivery in ODL towards the attainment of its viable vision statement.
